For javascript I didn't find webmonkey all that useful when I was learning it. I prefer

Books:
Everyone programming Perl needs a copy of the Camel Book, "Programming Perl", by Larry Wall et al, ISBN 0596000278. You need this as a reference book, but I wouldn't advise learning Perl from it. For that, you need "Learning Perl", by Randal Schwartz and Tom Phoenix, ISBN 0596001320 (the Llama book).

CGI:
Perl scripts used for the Web are called CGI scripts. The book you need is "CGI Programming with Perl" by Scott Guelich et al, ISBN 1565924193 (the Mouse book) .

Don't go anywhere near any of the "learn Perl in 2 minutes for dummies" type books, they're mostly pretty poor.

A chap called Ovid has written an online CGI programming course which I'd recommend highly, you can find it here:

If you want to do really serious web programming with mod_perl and Apache, then this book is excellent: "Writing Apache Modules with Perl and C", by Lincoln Stein and Doug MacEachern, ISBN 156592567X (the Eagle book).

If you want to *really* understand regular expressions - and they're very powerful - then have a read of "Mastering Regular Expressions" by Jeffrey E.F. Friedl, ISBN 1565922573 (the Owls book). Absolutely one of the best technical books I've ever read. He explains this complicated subject in great depth, and with real clarity.

All the above books are from O'Reilly, but Manning also have a couple of useful Perl books, including Object Oriented Perl (http://www.manning.com/Conway/) by Damian Conway (http://www.yetanother.org/damian/) and Data Munging with Perl (http://www.manning.com/cross/) by Dave Cross (http://www.dave.org.uk/) of london.pm (http://london.pm.org/).

Oh, forgot to mention, there's an international chain of user groups called Perl mongers, http://www.pm.org/ who meet in pubs and have drinks and things.

That lot should keep you going for a bit.
