    Sidebar Widget placement issue in wordpress

    Hi Guy's.

    So my very first post, so be extra gentle with me please.I'm also getting
    on a bit so all this needs a bit of time to seep in.

    I cannot figure out how to place my right sidebar widgets higher.

    It seems I am not allowed to post a link with under 5 posts
    Strange, so my site is called "keeponcycling" You might be able
    to figure out the before & after. Hope this is ok, would be pretty
    stupid to be banned before I even got going.

    I have used firebug, but have not really figured out what I need to
    change, delete etc. I am using wordpress.

    Cheers
    Simon

    (Edit: the site is www.keeponcycling.com, and good luck on your ride Simon! --raena)

    We prevent links from people under 5 posts because this is a major source of spam. I've edited your post to include the link.

    Hi Guys,

    Don't want to give up on this. I think I need
    to decrease the width of the main column. Home page
    One adventure etc. Unfortunately I don't know how to do that.

    If I look at the master theme & compare that with mine the
    column width is certainly not so wide.

    Would really appreciate someone giving me a feed back on
    how to decrease the center column width. I presume I have to make a change in the style.css file.BUt how ?

    Cheers
    Simon

    I'm still new to Wordpress and just getting comfortable with CSS myself, but I looked at the stylesheet and if you want to decrease the width of the center column for this theme, think you have to change the right margin values (highlighted in red below) in #content (near the top of the style.css file) and div#footer (toward the bottom).

    #content {
    margin-left: 300px;
    margin-right: 240px;
    float: none;
    padding-top: 100px;
    display: block;
    }

    div#footer {
    font-size: 11px;
    float: none;
    clear: left;
    -moz-border-radius: 6px;
    -khtml-border-radius: 6px;
    -webkit-border-radius: 6px;
    border-radius: 6px;
    border: 1px solid #4d4d4d;
    background-color: #181818;
    padding: 5px 0 2px;
    position: relative;
    margin: 10px 240px 20px 300px;
    }

    Increasing the value should push the right edge of the center column away from the sidebar. not sure whether this will fix the sidebar placement or not, though. hope it helps.

    Thanks for the tip agarcia.

    I think normally that would have cracked it, but it didn't this time around

    I tried several different width sizes & although it certainly decreased the widget
    & column sizes. My widget didn't budge from the bottom.

    I think were close, any other takers out there please ?

    Cheers Simon
