    php email notification on failure

When sending an email from a website using the PHP mail command, is it possible to nofity the sender when the mail-message could not reach the recepient.

I want something like the failure-messages you receive back when sending emails to a non-existent address using Microsoft Outlook or other mail-clients.

    thanks for your answers,

    Peter, Belgium

You get the notification on failed delivery from the smtp server. Even sending an email with mail() results in such message to your default mailbox on the server. So what you can do is check the box for such messages. The problem here is the indeterminable timespan from the sent message till the arrival of notification.
