Adobe Web Gallery - Unusual Characters Appearing

I've been using that web-gallery feature of Photoshop CS 2...

    File > Automate... > Web-Gallery

...it worked great the first time I did it, but every other time since it's been giving me some weird characters at the top of the generated Flash application.

I don't know how else to describe it so I took some screen-shots to show you what I mean.

This is the good one (the first one)...

Then after that, every gallery I've done since had these weird characters appearing (as shown below)...

I think it's worth mentioning... actually even the first gallery had these weird characters initially, but then they inexplicably disappeared. I was hoping the same would happen with the others but so far no luck.

Also, they do not appear in Internet Explorer. Only in FireFox and Opera.

Any ideas what might be causing this??

    That's the UTF-8 BOM.

Maybe try unchecking "Use UTF-8 Encoding in URL" ?
Not sure if that'll do it though...

    hmm...

I don't know. The BOM characters (as you say) stopped appearing when I uploaded the galleries.

They still come up in the local version, but the live version is just fine.

    Weird.

Wha'ever... at least it wouldn't be a problem. The next time I'm making a gallery I'll try out what you suggested, thanks.

    No problem.

I think if you fiddle with the character encoding in your browser, you'd be able to make the BOM reappear, I'm guessing that when you uploaded and accessed it, it was returned as UTF-8, so the BOM didn't show. Anyway, I'm glad it's working now.
