    Editing Word Documents Online

    Hi Guys

I'm currently looking into producing an online MS word editing application, where by a user would upload a document and specify specific users that can edit and review the document.

Ideally I would like the document to be edited and saved on the server rather than the process of downloading the doc and the uploading the changes as a new doc etc

I suppose this is similar to google docs but no where near as advanced

Would anybody be able to give me any advice on how this is best achieved using php or would it be best to develop in .NET?

Any help would be much appreciated

    Thanks in advance

Hi and a belated welcome to the forums crabby

Personally speaking I reckon this would be better approached in .NET simply because WORD isn't really supported by PHP and even in .NET you might struggle. Sorry I cant help more than that

    Hi Spike

Thank you and thank you for your response

Hmmmmm....had a feeling this would be better compatable with .NET, just getting into to .NET at the moment it's a big ol learning curve

It's a shame there's no API for google docs at the mo.

Might I suggest the FckEditor..I believe you can add your own plugins. I used the editor all the time professionally. It was actually just aquired by Adobe as well and they are using it in Dreamweaver. It's a great app and simple to setup.
