    Website Software Design

I currently work for a software company that is in the process of developing a new piece of software for developing websites. I am wondering if anyone has any features that they would like to see in web dev software that current software vendors are not supporting. You will have ability to write server scripts as the program will be linked to a server technology. The program will in essence highly support components that are of a drag and drop nature if you choose to use them. We have already developed ecommerce components, message boards etc that are customisable or can be improved upon and in fact are like plugins scripted or programmed for the server side. What components would make life easier for you as a web developer if you had the option of designing a interface that plugged into your website software and developed your server side/database interaction for you.

    Have you got a URL?

Maybe help paint a better picture.

Plus I think you should have posted this in general development issues?

    1. Make it like Dreamweaver in it's good ways
    2. Make it like FP in it's good ways (management, easy of modifying elements)
    3. Make it right clean code and have all outputted code based upon coding styles which users can input (so I can make it write like I would, or so I could make it XHTML compliant or however I want to do it)
    4. Have an intelligent "most recently used" toolbar

    Dunno, that's where I'm at...

    Good Start,

I think this is a very important aspect of what the software should be able to do efficiently and correctly and i will be focusing on that issue a lot.

Can you think of any tasks that you develop on the server side that you wish you could automate or be able to write a component for that would be reusable within the editor? eg. a Poll or E-commerce etc.

Personally we do all ASP and COM development in-house, so we wouldn't use any inprogram stuff anymore then I use DreamWeaver's dhtml components

What are some of the more functional features of dreamweaver you prefer?

What is Dreamweaver lacking that you think could make your life as a web developer easier? (anyone)
