    multi-lingual site entry

looking for a general opinion on this one.

i know that some people dont like seemingly unnecessary splash/entry pages before reaching the homepage but what about if visitors are 50/50 english/spanish speakers and i'd like to show some respect by offering a choice from the very beginning.

the alternative would be to open up in one language and provide an obvious link to the other language pages.

automatic language detection doesnt interest me as there are too many possibilities.

slow downloading flash intros are also one of my dislikes!

What do people think? Lets see how international this forum is!

I have your same situation (english/italian) and I designed my site to have on top of the left navigation bar two flag images, english and italian.
So from each page is possible to change the language.

I have two flags for each language, one big and one small.

The big one means the current language selected.

Personally, I do not like an introduction page for language selection.

    Just some thoughts...
