Out of the two, which one is smaller and faster? Also what are your personal views on either or both of them?

If I were choosing between the two, I'd got with BoardPower. Why? Becuase it's been arounda little longer and has more users. It seems to be better established.

If you want to use a board for a low-traffic site, then either will do. However, YaBB doesn't handle a high no. of hits very well.
