    I am just trying to install I Board power bulitin board but i'am having truble. It says to ftp the files up and chmod them but I don't know what chmod is?

    This is a quote out of the read-me:
    <B>
    Now you are ready to place the files on your server. We recommend using WS FTP, which is available at www.wsftp.com. WS FTP allows you to chmod your files and directories and the click of the mouse.

    Note: some hosts don't allow the use of 777 or in some cases, 777 keeps the program from running. Try using 755 if you have problems.

    1) Open your FTP client and create the following directories as shown below. Remember to chmod them.

    /boardpower/ drwxrwxrwx (chmod 777)
    /boardpower/members/
    drwxrwxrwx (chmod 777)
    /boardpower/variables/ drwxrwxrwx (chmod 777)
    </B>

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi There,

    Below I am reposting a somewhat modified message I posted on a past thread (http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/Forum1/HTML/001039.html), I hope it helps:

    ---------------------------------
    Right-click on any file on the right hand side of the program (on the web basically) and choose "chomd (UNIX)"...you will then see 9 boxes in 3 sets of 3 each...

    Each of those 3 boxes has a value...the top box equals "4", the middle box is "2", and the bottom is "1"...so therefore, if you check all three boxes in the "owner" set, then you have a value of "7"...check all 3 in the other two sets, and you have two more 7s...total: "777".

    755 would be all three checked in the first, and the top and bottom boxes checked in the 2nd and 3rd sets.

    Let me know if this is confusing.

    I use CuteFTP, it's also very easy to chmod.

    chmod is just for unix command, but if your FTP agent knows how to chmod, then you don't even need to know it!

    Yeah, I just installed BoardPower at one of my sites! Pretty cool now, also added some hacks. http://www.ptnangkhieu.com
