I knew someone would figure this out for me!

    Thanks so much!

The way the site works is, I upload all the full size images to .com/images/ then site resizes the image for me. The .com/pre/ folder is the medium size and the .com/thumbs folder is for the small thumbnails.

I am such a noob, oh well learn something new every day

These are the trees above our house on a cold winters day. Notice the bird in the top left flying through the snow.

Nice! Lol! Always nice to see/meet a fellow Eugeneian on SPF!

I was born/raised here also... Almost 30yrs now! I love my hometown, but I am itching to move to some place with a desert... AZ maybe?

Hehe, most people say "Eugene is a vortex" -- Those folks who leave usually end-up coming back sooner or later.

Being that I live in Brooklyn (and have for some time now), I don't have that many recent photos with trees in them (concrete yes - green trees - not so much).

So I surfed through my photo archives a bit and found this one I took quite a few years ago during a nasty blizzard in Albany, NY, just two blocks up the street from the State Capitol (I took it because I had to go out to see if I could move my car - ). If you look really closely, under all that snow, I swear there are some trees in the frame . I got lucky how the light reflected off of the snowflakes (they were enormous) that were near the lens - it's kinda interesting (at least to my eyes).

Thanks George - NY can be spectacularly pretty right after a big snowfall.

I would have been happy to trade Albany for Hawaii after digging my car out though !

I was in New York City in 1996 when the BIG snow happened. It had a quietness and beauty, it was transformed. Cars could not drive. All stood still. I cherish this memory forever.

It was a magical time, all the misery included. I had never experienced New York in this mood before. It became a small village on that day, people seemed to open up and were almost giddy. I saw people put costumes on and sing in the snow, just surreal those days were.

I know what you mean Datura - in a place where things are always moving almost too quickly, it is refreshing (even for those of us accustomed to the amazing race) to just stop it all for a little while - it reminds you/one of what is important. I also love the sound dampening that comes with a thick snow cover - it's serene (snow is nature's acoustician).

The attitude during the blackout/s (the recent ones), in spite of the heat, was similar - when all this technology comes to a screeching halt you actually have a moment to enjoy yourself - imagine that! Party time !

Yes, it is just like that! We found a great Russian restaurant on that day, people walked in, feet stomping to get rid of the snow, and of course the connection to Russia with this snow was very apparent. There was this piano player who played Rachmaninoff all evening long, we had all sorts of flavored vodkas and became a family in this warm spot away from this snow. We mixed all sorts of languages and it just was so wonderful and cozy, human.

Great photos so far! I'm impressed.

I guess this means I really should get my camera fixed.

Until then, though... a quick browse through some of my old photos (i.e., back in the good old days when my camera worked)... I found this, that kinda fits the theme:

    Josh is a ghost
    rails & work & twitter

    Organization is the
    death of creativity.
