    Weekly Photo Challenge - Trees

Alright, this is our first photo challenge so here are the details. We will post an idea for a theme and your objective will be to either capture that theme using your camera or if you have a photo already existing in your collection, then you can put that here too!

The general idea is to just get us out there and get us using our camera and also sharing our photos with each other. Comments on other's photos are definitely acceptable. This isn't a competition; but instead a challenge. This week we will start with something easy to encourage all you shutterbugs to get out and take some pictures. Post your photo here once it's done. You have until next Friday to do so.

    This Week's Theme: Tree(s)

    Lucky Tree

There is a history to this tree: About 20 years ago I found a little seedling with 2 leaves and a tenacious root clinging onto a tree stump. I took it, potted it up and grew it in my living room. We called it: Lucky Tree After 5 years it scraped the ceiling, it had to be planted. So we planted it on the grounds of our little theater. Now, Lucky Tree is already a tree of stature. This native, a Counsel Tree (one of the strangler figs), will spread its crown someday some 100 feet wide. I probably will not see this in my life, but the next generation will.

@Datura: Great story! Looks like a cool tree to have around the yard! FL looks like a nice place to live.

    @DT: Thanks!

@HarryZ: Oooh, I wish I had that view from my office!

@Raffles: I wish I was there! Never been outside the U.S. myself.

@nukeemusn: That is one of the coolest trees I have ever seen! Where is that at?

@vennt: Ooooh, nice! Abstract. Reminds me woods around these parts... I used to love climbing trees like the ones in your shot.

That tree is an "Indian Banyan." That particular tree is at Ford Island, Hawaii, right across form the USS Arizona Memorial. It's part of Pearl Harbor Naval Station.

We have many of those in this area as well. Actually my neighbor has a whole lot filled with one of them. They are awesome. Talk about inspiring.

Yes it did, I can hear the bees and smell the fragrance. It is so real. Of course I have the memories, I connect your picture with those impressions, add onto your photo really.

Nice. Just use image tags [IMG]your url[/IMG] .

Here is also a page out of the FAQ, very helpful on the forum in general:

I tried to link directly to it, but the way my site is written it doesn't work correctly. Which is why I am here, going to a full rewrite soon.

Do you not have your images in a folder? You can just link to the site > folder > image. That is what I do.

    Yes I do. www.charlesmarchese.com/images

Get a 404 error when I try to go directly to that image.

I have to learn more about what Longneck did when he rewrote most of my site! LOL

You did not put the specific image name behind the folder name, like:

    www.charlesmarchese.com/images/yourImage

I tried that before I posted, in my own browser window, to make sure I was linking to the correct image.

    http://www.charlesmarchese.com/images/dscn3029.jpg

When you go to the link, It gives a 404 Not Found error. I have to be linking to the wrong place.

Goes back to the drawing board...
