    Do you use Post and Page templates?

    This thread got me thinking about this... how many people take advantage of different post or page templates?

    I use a page template for the "tag cloud" page of my web blog. Nothing rocket science about it, it's merely a template based on my existing page.php template, but with the typical content stuff replaced with the code for generating the tag cloud.

    Another site I'm working on for a client has a custom index.php template. I considered using the "setting a page as frontpage" function of WP, but decided against it as there's a lot of custom work the client wants done for his index.
    I can help with Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP stuff at most times.

    Hello

    I have used them in a couple of projects, mainly for extending the width of the main column and removing the sidebar from certain pages. Nothing too exciting.

    I created my theme from scratch, only making the template files I'd need. Upgrading WP might be interesting.

    ideally your theme files won't be affected by any upgrades...they have been pretty good about that so far.

    Yep, that's true.

    Reason being, your custom stuff (themes and plugins) would reside in /wp-content/.

    The only things a WP upgrade would touch in that directory are four things (at least for now):

    * The two bundled themes (default and classic)
    * The Akismet plugin
    * The Hello Dolly plugin
