Replacing swf's with gif's
Hi,
How, pray, do I code it such that a swf will automatically replace itself with a similar gif so archaic goobers without Flash installed on their pooters can still have some basic animation viewing pleasure?
Much appreciated.

no swf
You don't need javascript for this. Try
<object .....>
Stuff that will display (text, img tag etc) if object load fails
</object>Big Change Coming Soon - if you want your PMs save them now!

Mittineague is correct.
I recommend using swfObject to avoid the "click to activate" in IE.

So I'm an "archaic goober" because I won't let you bombard me with ads?
I may be archaic... but a goober?

there is the only way, I guess if you are looking for accessibility, you shouldn't use flash at all
Nowadays, it is pretty rare people turn javascript off and flash.
