    Since I haven't had any bother getting an image in a table background in NS before do you mean getting one in without it tiling the image?

    If you are trying to get the background in use:

    <td background=image.gif>

    If it's the way Netscape displays the images, try forcing the size of the cells using transparent gifs:

    <table border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0>
    <tbody>
    <tr>
    <td height=1><img src=clear.gif width=500 height=1 border=0></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td background=image.gif width=500 height=200><img src=clear.gif width=1 height=200 border=0 alt="" hspace=0 vspace=0 align=left>CELL CONTENT</td>
    </tr>
    </tbody>
    </table>

    and give your background image a couple of pixels "bleed" on the right and bottom edges to the size you want displayed. It's convoluted, but everything is on Netscape

    <off-topic>shouldn't the username admin be banned or at least not available to the "normal" users... it may cause some amount of confusion if people believe admin to be the real Site Administrator or Forum Admin... just a thought no offence to admin of course </off-topic>

    Actually, the simplest way to prevent tiling in nested tables is to do this:

    <table background="image.gif">
    <tr>
    <td>

    <table background="*">
    <tr>
    <td>
    content here
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    By putting the star in place of an image name, you're telling the browser that there's nothing, instead of whatever would be inherited from the parent element. It's not a nice way of doing things, and I'm sure it's not "correct" but since NS 4.x browser total less than 4% it's acceptable to me.
