I am new to javascript. As a matter of fact I haven't done anything right. I want to know how to do things in javascript. could somebody help me.

I recommend an online tutorial. Here's one of the best ones to get you started:

there are others, but that's the only one I've ever really looked at. Google for "javascript tutorial' and you'll hit 2008 before you run out of tutorials.

I don't know if reading quirksmode would be a good way to learn JavaScript... Instead, get the new edition from the "JavaScript Bible". It is a great book to have for learning or to have as a reference for professionals.
