    Censor Block for WordPress?

    Hello,

I am looking for a plugin that will stop a comment from being entered if it includes a term and will tell the commenter that the comment cannot be posted because it contains X (whatever was blocked). I do not want to mark the comment as spam or to put it into moderation and I do not want the term to be changed to something else. I want them to know what the issue is so they can adjust their comment and try again.

Ideally, it would function exactly like the Censor Block hack for phpBB, but I could get away with functionality similar to the CommentCensor plugin for Nucleus CMS. Does anyone know if such a hack exists?

    I appreciate any replies. Thanks!

    Patrick

i havent come across any as yet patrick.
the plugin community for wordpress can be erratic at times.

what kind of terms are you looking to censor? Could you get away with writing a comment policy next to the comment form or something similar?

i uploaded that script to give it a try.

it doesnt censor when you type. However it will place *** for any swear words you add to the plugin list

That's probably the best way. It would be a lot of overhaul to make it censor the words dynamically when who really cares if the person that WANTS to say the swear word can see it when they type or not. The end result is that it is filtered for everyone else.

    Thanks for the replies.

    fonzerelli_79,

We do have our User Guidelines, definitely, but this feature helps us to enforce them. It also lowers moderation time as it stops their comment and tells them what is wrong with it, so they can hit back and then adjust it. Instead of me having to remove it, contact them and then they would have to re-post, adjusted.

    Sara,

Thanks, but unfortunately, that isn't what I want. We don't allow anything above minor vulgarities in any form - self censored, abbreviated or otherwise. So, for example, "**** You" would be a violation of our User Guidelines. CommentCensor actually stops the comment and tells them what terms were censored.

I posted this on the WordPress forums at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/114847 and a fellow replied with how to potentially make the plugin, but I don't have the know how, unfortunately.

    Thanks again guys.
