Lightbulb Ruby and flash inquiry :)

    Hey!

I am new to ruby on the those rails. I want to use ruby as my main language for personal projects. I have one big question about ruby on rails and thats is how does one make ruby and flash communicate?

One of the projects I want to do involves a flash xml player which works perfectly with php with a query string, and some nice actionscript but how will I get it to communicate with rails?

Would it be possible to pass a variable to flash with a query string?

If anyone could point me to some resources for flash and ROR communication that would be great!

Rails should have no problem. It has good support with xml, even the xml builder module is so easy to use. You should try rails.

Yea, have a look at using builder based templates ... http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionView/Base.html has a section on it. That will generate XML for you. If you need to parse XML have a look at REXML, generally you can use it with Xpath and a DOM like way to transverse nodes (it's not DOM compatible, the makers were agaist DOM as the API is clumsy due to it's language independent nature)
