Using a file as a database

Some time ago there was a thread about using a flat file as a database. I did a search on 'text database file' I found this one http://www.sitepointforums.com/showt...=text+database but it's not the one I'm looking for. I think Freddydoesphp wrote the code. If anyone knows what I'm talking about please post a link to the thread here, or if you know of a good tutorial on the web that would also be great.
