    ASP in an HTML page?

    I entrusted stat gathering to a supervisor at work over the weekend-- I had asked for a server-side tracking of individual page hits over a six week period. The supervisor added what looks like an ASP include statement onto my HTML page:
    Code:
    <div class="btfloat">
    <font size="-1"><b>Page Hits: <b></font><!--#INCLUDE FILE="database.inc"--></b></div>
    </p>
    The semantic mess aside, will this actually work? The statement is only on the main page....

    It will work if:
    1. you are running IIS or another server that can process ASP
    2. your file has the extension .asp OR
    IIS is set up to process all HTML files as ASP

    Sorry, total ASP noob:

    Please define IIS?

    If it helps we're running on MySQL if I remember correctly-- unfortunately I have to relegate all "heavy lifting" in the server to another department; they won't let me code on the main server due to security reasons.

    Thanks, I appreciate the information; it sounds like I'll be okay
