Cool Campain for an Opera OS

I wonder if those good folks over at Opera ever thought of doing an OS.

Like many Opera evangelicals, the style and application of their browser
functions just make me want scrunch myself up into a ball and go
    rolly-pollying down a grassy hill..

Now just how successful could this kind of venture really be?

In a market saturated by internet browsers, why not diversify into this
    manifestation?

Sure, its tough coding OPERAting systems but why not take the best
of all, mac OS and windows, whilst really making somthing special?

Sure there are issues, like security and compatibility..but why isnt this
    already an Opera venture?

I guess they could offer something Linux based, but it's outside of their core industry and really stepping on some toes.

But yeah, an Opera WM and desktop environment or something for Linux would be pretty cool if it's as good as their other products.

I'm still scarred from the days when Opera had banner ads built into their browser. Do they still do that? I would hope not.

Great, it will be ugly by default but OperaOS fanboys will say "BUT YOU CAN CHANGE THE SKIN" which is somehow supposed to make it more redeeming. And since their browser is now also a mail client, rss reader, irc client, dashboard-alike, and bittorrent downloader, how is it not an OS right now?

Those have been gone since V8.50 (autumn 2005).

And you didn't have to have banner ads back then, even in the free version. I chose text ads instead, and they were so unobtrusive that they didn't bother me – and I usually hate and loathe all forms of advertisements.

I might be wrong, but don't Opera also make entire OSs for mobile phones?
