AJAX problem for loading images

HI

I want to display an image when i am clicking on a image
I am able to display an image when i am clicking on a image ,here my problem is
I want to display another image inbetween this, that is a rounded image or some animated gif image so user can understand picture is loading.I am using ajax.But
i don't know how to do this in ajax
