MySQL is a database. Databases can be used to store a large amount of information that may need to be changed, searched for, or displayed. You would use a prgramming language such as ASP or PHP (Which is free if you dont have access to PWS or IIS) to communicate with the database to do what you want with the data.

There are loads of database programs and languages. If your using windows you might have access, that is a database and you can use it the same way as you would use MySQL. But you can edit and manage Access easily from your desktop a nice easy language to pick up is coldfusion.

If you dont want o learn any scripting languages pop over to www.hotscripts.com you can pick up scripts there that could display any content you want shown on your website.

Well if coldfusion is what you want to check up, goto www.macromedia.com .

This is just my opinion but I have user Perl, ASP, PHP and CFM if I have a choice of all 4 I will go with CFM because of its ease and speed.

Many other peoples opinions will differ mainly in favour of php but just ignore them
