Question which webhosts offers "real" unlimited shared or dedicated hosting?

which webhosts offers "real" unlimited shared or dedicated hosting? alot of companies say unlimited but in their terms it says they'll suspend your account if you exceed reasonable use and they don't tell you what this is.

There are no real unlimited shared hosting accounts. You'll not find any real unlimited dedicated server providers either; there's no such thing as an unlimited hd.

agree that there is no unlimited. unless you get a own dedicated server.

today many good provider like hostgator is giving terabytes bandwidth, and hundred GB of space. think this is good for general website that dont run fancy scripting that will stress the server.

charlesgan, thats a false statement. Dedicated servers have "limits" as well.

The ones who ask for an unlimited amount of money.

Also, you need to differentiate unlimited from unmetered when it comes to dedicated servers.

"Unlimited" in most cases means "as long as you are not causing pain to the server you can have unlimited resources" but it may also be understood like "I'm not sure what I want and don't know my limits" , but in the real world there is no unlimited, there is only overselling and hosts with false pretenses .

As most have already stated, you will not get truly unlimited bandwidth on a shared hosting account. The reasons are obvious as the host must protect all accounts on the shared server.

But you can get unlimited bandwidth on a dedicated server; even though you have unlimited bandwidth you are still limited by the amount of data/requests the server can process, you thrash that machine to death and only your site(s) goes down.

Well no, you can't get unlimited bandwidth on a dedicated server, I've never seen an unlimited speed NIC on a server.

Bandwidth and Data Transfer are not the same thing (neither can be unlimited). Often you'll see un-metered servers, which just basically means you've got a cap on the maximum bandwidth e.g. 10Mbit/s, but it's still not unlimited.
