    how to find a webmaster

I am new to this board and I need some help. I don't know if this is the right place to find the answers, but I hope that someone can guide me in the right direction .... Can someone please tell me if there is a way to find out who the webmaster of a certain website is? I know who owns the site and from what I understand the owner leased the site to someone else. I am trying to find out who actually runs the site because the owner will not tell me. Thank you very much for your help and please forgive me if this is not the place to be asking these questions. I just don't know where to turn.

hmm... i guess if the webmaster and the owner doesn't want you to know who he is then you probably shouldn't probe...

Well, if the webmaster has an e-mail provided on the site, you could always play the interacting game, and eventually find out who he is.

Did you try looking up the WHOIS info?

    Good luck...

Send an email as mentioned above to webmaster@site.com with an enquiry about something related to the site. Most webmasters usually include a tagline at the bottom of their email with their name in it.

    webmaster@site.com that usually works
Sometimes it doesn't That is why I created other email aliases because most spam mail comes to webmaster@yoursite.com and I don't respond to any emails that are sent to webmaster@...

what if someone is trying to get in touch with you to offer some work, and email webmaster@ cos its the first thing that they think of? it might be mostly spam but some of it could be invaluably useful!

Well, there really isn't any one way unless they announce it on the page. And by the way, I don't have webmaster@anyofmydomains.com at all. Although most of my domains use a catch all, so you could go whateveryouwant@vgeeks.com if you want.

A WHOIS will only give you information about the owner of the domain, and usually this person is also the owner of the website. So if the site is leased then you would still not know who the webmaster is, unless the webmaster purchased a domain for the website, I doubt that though.
