    RadRails and Console Mode ?

    Hi everyone,

Working through the Sitepoint RoR book and all going fairly well.

But I'm using RadRails ( on Windows XP ) and I can't work out how to enter things in the 'console mode'.

I have the console mode tab page open ( at the bottom where the servers are show etc... ), I opened a New Console View and I can type, but when I press Enter nothing happens, the cursor just jumps to the next line.

I'm obviously missing something simple, but can't figure it out.

Also should this work in irb, if I run irb from my project directory ?

    BTW: I'm on page 189 entering 's = Story.find :first'

    TIA - Dave Porter

    Do you see:

    Code:
    Loading development environment.
    >>
    ?

You have to start the console if you don't see this. I think there is an "open rails console" button in the main toolbar.

    Hi Fenrir,

Sorry but I can't find it...

I can see a drop down that says 'New Console View', but that just creates a new tab page with the same console that I can't type into....

I'm have seen an image ( of RadRails ) with a console button on the toolbar, but I think it is an older version ( I'm on the latest 0.72 ).

    regards, Dave

I downloaded the newest RadRails. It's the 7th button on the toolbar. You have to open a Rails project first, of course.
