It's really possible to go way beyond that, but that requires a lot of patience, time and dedication. I don't have that much.

I give you the crown for now. I think you can probably hit 60 000 or so, but I do not have the time for that either. I love to come back to it some day though.

Here is to the highest score so far --

I'm thinking around 80,000 but yes, it is time consuming. But I'll be ready in case you top it.

I have yet to try the Blooming Garden. Looks just as addictive to me as the Virus 2 thing.

@ molona: There is strategy in the Virus 2 that is totally counter intuitive in order to get the numbers up. They have set it up very cleverly to disguise this. Daemon knows about it I think?

Any tips? I tried a sort of maximum efficiency strategy, but I couldn't really get it to work past 40k.

I think I will let the cat out of the bag. I noticed a pattern that developed. When you try really hard to cover the field in as few clicks as possible, it rewards you with the announcement that you have achieved this in fewer movements than what the thing is giving you. It is playing on your psyche. That little phrase is the hook. It makes you feel rewarded and so you do your best to keep on trying for the low score. In this way I was able to get to 48 132 points. But it really stretched me. Then I saw something and the light bulb blinked, I changed my approach.

What I do now is this: First when I open up the game I look it over and judge the alignment of the color fields. Are they nicely clumped together, are they directional, are the corners not too fussy with just single color fields which will make it hard in the end? If it is not up to that standard I start another one until it lives up to this criterion. Then I cover the board as fast as possible except for one single different color field. Let's say I did this in 20 moves, but I have 35 that are allowed. Now I click all colors, except the one of the single, until I get to 34. With the 35th click I chose the color of the single. That should give me around 7 500 points to start with. My last run started with 7 800 out off the gate.

Now I do not have the choice of board any longer, I have to deal with what the thing gives me, but I still have the option of always covering as many fields as fast as possible and then clicking the whole except for the one until I have the full number of allowed clicks. In the end that adds hundreds if not thousands to your score.

When it gives you the choppy little field without much of a direction or clumped fields, there is not much you can do. So some luck plays into it, but the right strategy can still give you another round.

So, good luck to you all -- Datura

I do not want to go on with this for long, so giving some other people some incentive is a nice thing I think. There is still a rather large amount of concentration required and also some luck in how the game presents itself. Don't be such a miser daemon, it is just a game -- Datura

@ Daemon -- I just had a thought: When you discover something that other's do not see, keep it close to the vest. If it is some trivial thing like a game as this, play with it for a while and then give it away for other's to get that thrill as well.

But when the discovery is the case in your competitive and serious work environment and you find something that makes work more efficient for you, much better for you and your customer and drives your competition into a corner, then hold on to your discovery and do not divulge any of it. After all, that is your livelihood and you depend on your smarts to survive.

But there too, it all depends on the field you are working in -- Datura

Those are commercial secrets, yes. On the other hand, there's nothing wrong in giving a helping hand to those who need. Otherwise I'd have 2000 posts less in my total posts count, let alone the personal messages.
