difficulty installing PHP on win XP

    Hi,

I'm trying to get PHP4 to work on my winXP box. I have installed IIS and am able to get pages with an HTM extension to show up when I type the following URL into IE6:

    http://localhost/test.htm

    That page comes up.

I have installed PHP according to Kevin Yank's suggestions (p. 10-12 in his book) and I am unable to get IE6 to open pages with the ".php" extension.

...I just get a page not found error. I am confused because I have set the ISAPI filters to see PHP and have configured my home directory to see .php extensions. I have also restarted the world wide web publishing service.

What can I do next to fix this?

    TIA

Save yourself some stress and use Apache instead, I use Apache on my Windows XP PC with PHP4.1.1 downloaded from php4win.com

    OK...but how

    stupid newbie question here...

how do I install (or rather turn on) Apache? I have tried a straight install of PHP triad. How do I activate Apache once PHPtriad has done its thing?

As you are using XP it should be installed as a service, therefore, it will start and stop itself at startup and shutdown
