DOM Level 2 bindings for CSS present day browser support?

    Hi
I have been reading a very good but someone old book on the Web. In this book I find this statement.
    Accessing Complex Style Rules

So far, we havenít discussed how to access CSS rules found in <style> tags or how to dynamically set linked style sheets. The DOM Level 2 does provide such an interface, but, as of the time of this writing, browser support is still limited and can be very buggy where it does exist. This section serves only as a brief introduction to some of the more advanced DOM Level 2 bindings for CSS.
So what is the present state of browse a support are those CSS bindings to style sheets supported for the browse is most users will be presently using? I know I can search for this information myself but I will find it a laborious process having to read many pronouncements which haven't bin updated. So if somebody here just knows please tell me.

    Very sincerely
    Marc
