    Combining Rails applications

    Hello,

Does anyone have any experience combining Rails apps for use in one website? For example, I'd like to use both Opinion and Mephisto together in one website without having to merge files, databases, etc. Any ideas on how this would be done?

    Thanks,
    TWR

blog.yourdomain.com for Mephisto, forum.yourdomain.com for Opinion.

Are you trying to share users/logins between the two systems? I'm not sure what you mean by "combining" them. If you just want them both under the same domain then put them in folders or on subdomains. For deeper integration (i.e. latest forum topics on blog homepage, logging into the blog logs you into the forum too) then you might have to dig deep into both codebases and hack something together yourself.

You got run two installs of mongrel one for each app.

Run the mongrels on different ports then user a reverse proxy to map url's (or subdomains) to those ports.
