Question Firefox kept on asking me whether I want to save file when I browse sites

    Dear all,

Recently Firefox has been asking me whether I want to save the file whenever I click on a link. This happen to almost all the websites that I browse. I just got really tired of it, and decided to post this issue at Sitepoint. (While getting to forum "Computer Hardware and Software" from sitepoint.com. This happen another 2 times. - Please refer to the attachment for screen shot.)

The error messages looks like the following:

    "You have chosen to open
    forumdisplay.php
    which is a: PHP file
    from: http://www.sitepoint.com
Would you like to save this file?"

Have any of you experience this? Appreciate your reply!

    Firefox version 2.0.0.1

Perhaps you changed some things in the about:config?
Look at Preferences->Content->Manage and see if there is anything in there about the html mime-type.

Ok, a couple of things.. First, never download a file unless you went to that site specifically to download that file. If something surprises you and asks you to download it, DON'T download it! Second, forumdisplay.php is a forum file (it should be around 32K). That indicates that there is a problem with that forum, not your browser. Also, none of your screenshots are working.

I'm in the same boat as iTechno. It happens to me sometimes (only on forums though for some reason - maybe I spend too much time on them ) and a quick cancel and refresh does the job.

No idea what the problem is though.

    Question

Is it all sites or one perticular site? How can we reproduce it?

Happens to me sometimes - FF v2.0 - it seems to happen when a site is slow to respond. No big deal though as it only happens occasionally.

Firefox has publicly stated that ONLY developers should be using 2.0 at this time. The official released version currently is 1.5.0.9

Hum. Thank you for the information.
If it is not ready to be released for public use, I would suggest such announcement be added on the frontpage of mozilla.com.
As of 2/13, mozilla.com does not have a download link to versions prior to 2.0.

I want to report that I'm recently getting the following error:
"website-name has sent an incorrect or unexpected message. Error Code: -12263"
