Some time ago I had asked this forum for info on a good web design book. I was looking for something not so much technical as theory. Well, I found it.
Thomas Powell hit the mark with "The Complete Reference - Web Design". This book is well rounded and complete. I would recommend it for any web developer at any level. I don't want to get into long reviews so I will just quote what the author says to describe the purpose of his book.
"Thorough treatment of Web site planning, design theory, and real world development practices."
"In-depth information on site architecture, usability, navigation, and page layout."
"Full details on site development tools and technologies and site hosting services."
