    Overlap in Firefox for mac and Linux

    Hi all,

    I have a weird problem with text overlapping in firefox on mac and linux. It does seem to happen on windows firefox but once i refresh the page it dissapears. I am on a windows machine and have to use http://www.browsercam.com/ to see test the pages.

    I have no idea what the problem is, my page is at the problem is like this . I have tried clearing div floats, setting heights, and have no idea why the div would overlap a paragraph element?????

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Rob

    Hi,

    At first guess it looks like the old mozzilla problem where you have not supplied all your images with their width and height attributes.

    e.g.

    Code:
    <img src="Images/footer_bar.gif" alt=""/>
    Make sure all your images have their width and height attributes in the html or the page will get drawn and the space won't be allocated correctly. Once you refresh and the image is in cache then the browser knows how much to allocate and things go back into position.

    Try that first as it is a common problem

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks for the response. Its doesnt seem to be that, but i will make sure that change is persisted through the site. This problem only started occouring after i placed the Div below the first paragraph, so not sure if it is a positioning/float problem, i have no idea!

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Hi,

    I've found in this job that I often have to give the right answer twice before it finally sinks in

    I can guarantee you 99&#37; that the answer to your problem is the one I have already given. I have tested this locally on firefox 2.0 and omitting the image dimensions from the html as per your existing page cause an overlap every time (assuming caches is cleared after each page load).

    Adding the image dimensions in the html cause the problem to disappear immediately.

    Add the image dimensions to your live page and then report back

    eg.
    <img height="64" width="153" src="http://www.modika.co.uk/Images/modika_logo.gif" alt="Modika"/>

    I am sure that you will find it solves the problem. If it doesn't then we can look at other things but you must eliminate this as a cause first or we are wasting our time
