"Chromeless" style popups which work under IE7

    Hi folks,

I remember many years ago when Chromeless windows first appeared, I never really had any use for them but recently I've found a need to use them but the ones at chromeless.org dont appear to function under IE7 (they still have edges and outside window controls).

Is there a compatible version around that works on IE7 at all?

    Many thanks,

    Rikki

I think they are putting an end to allowing the developer take control away from the user. A web site should not up a windows with almost no method of closing it or hiding it or what have you. So I think it is a good think you can't create a chromeless window in IE7.

In fact I can chose to have IE7 open a popup in a new tab if I wish.

    Edit: Found this snipplet.
The Chromeless Window script currently does NOT work in Windows XP from SP1 (Service Pack 1) and thereon after. The problem is due to a changed behavior in XP that prevents Chromeless Windows all together (security update). We're still observing to see if this behavior will be changed soon, though if not, may have to remove this script altogether. If you wish to use Chromeless Windows, please make sure you understand the above -Oct 28th, 2002.

Use an in-page popup if you don't want any chrome. You have much better control over things within the same page with Javascript as most of the access to things outside of the page are gradually being removed from Javascript due to security issues.
