I have created a web page on my home computer, but when I upload it onto other computers, it looks all messed up. I wrote the page straight from notepad. How do I fix this problem?

    Hi,

Do you have an example of how it looks "messed up" or can you elaborate on that a bit please.

I have made a simple web page and most of it is created in tables that fit about 3/4 of the page. However, when I looked at it on a different computer, the margins were all different, the font was a little different, and the header image was a lot smaller.

Was the computer a Mac opposed to a PC, or vice versa? Was the computer using a different resolution or browser? Sorry, but we need more info here if you want us to pinpoint the problem...

I created the web page on a Pentium with the newest version of Windows 95 and looked at the page on a Pentium with Windows 98. I am pretty sure the screen settings are the same, but would settings change the page completely? If so, can I make the page to look the same on most browsers with different settings?

It is possible that this other computer may have it's browser settings a bit different from yours. If I'm not mistaken, they can specify font sizes and other things like that by default, which might be causing the problem.

Are both computers viewing the site with the same browser?

I actually have looked at the page in different browsers. I created the page using IE but it looks different in Netscape. When I compared it on another computer, I used IE but it was still different. I think the problem has to do with the way I coded the page. I wrote the page in HTML just with Windows Notepad. Maybe tables are affected by different settings. Is there a way to use margins so the page is only 3/4 the page wide without using tables?

    Thanks for all the help.
