Local file browser for output file

    Hi,

With HTML forms, you can use the file input type to select an existing file on the local file system, but is there an equivalent for specifying an output file path i.e. a file path and file name that doesn't already exist?

    Thanks

You want to write to HD of a user? You cannot do that obviously for security reasons. Even if you come up with a ActiveX solution or similar, that'd usually be blocked by firewalls, anti-virus software etc. as it's considered a malicious behavior.

In my application, I can write to the hard disk of the user and the application won't be blocked.

Currently, I'm taking the output file path from a text input field which involves the user typing the local path manually, but I'd like to be able to use a file selector dialogue box if possible.

Anyone know if/how this can be achieved?

You could try using a content-disposition header to force the browser to display the file download dialog box.

Look for an ActiveX control to do that then.
