Rails is a framework you really don't learn that you need to focus on Ruby. Rails is basically just an add-on can't use it unless you have an understanding of the language it uses.

    Hey ruba

If you are th all the beginner then go for the following sources that i had read for my first learning RoR:

    http://instantrails.rubyforge.org/wi...etting_Started
    http://instantrails.rubyforge.org/tutorial/index.html
    http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2.../20/rails.html

Both are seemed to be the same. Use instantrails for the easy installation and run ruby on rails.

    Hi Ruba,

I was in similar situation - PHP developer (working with PHP since 1999) wanting to learning Ruby / Rails. In my experience it's not necessary to learn Ruby first, as you will be able to figure basic syntax along the way. After you learn Rails basics you can learn more advanced Ruby syntax.

I suggest that you read Agile Web Development with Rails which is focused on Rails, but each example that uses some new Ruby syntax has a short explanation.

Personally I had no problem following examples in the book and catching up with Ruby syntax along the way.
