    I found the Zen of CSS Design explained some of the concepts of CSS Design extremely clearly aswell as being quite inspirational.

    The Eric Meyer and Sitepoint books are also good, particularly for beginners.

    Dan Cederholm's book are great too. His "Bulletproof Web Design" was a good read for making your sites flexible using proper XHTML and CSS.

    Also, his site - Simplebits - is another good resource.
