Can I be naughty and also ask if learning OOP makes all your hair fall out?

I second the question of "when does OOP go too far"?

Maybe "how do you go about decomposing a large system into a bunch of highly cohesive, loosely coupled classes?" or "when and how do you apply design patterns into your applications and how often do you actually make use of them?".

What I'm personally finding tricky in learning OOP is statics...

When to use static methods/props, when not, why and what's the theory
    around them?

In a lot of code I see, the decision to use objects in some places and
static methods etc. in others seems fairly arbitrary and very few books
or tutorials place any emphasis on understanding statics other than a
simple syntax overview. I suspect that really understanding statics is
    important to mastering OOP.

Would be interested to see this covered.

He was the best speaker there, and it's not that the others were bad at all.

In particular, he was very dismissive of the concept of interfaces and typehints (Which, he pointed out, aren't hints at all). I don't recall all he said, but he was definitely entertaining.

There were some people with a video-camera at the back of the hall, so perhaps it's possible to find a screencast somewhere?

Thanks for your reply. A screencast would be awesome.

Interfaces and type hints are "surprising" in a dynamic language, he said.
As I remember it, he was specific about how type hints would hurt the flexibility that is the whole idea of dynamic languages.
