    ip blocks and cross-linking

I have a few sites hosted on a single dedicated box. Naturally, most of them are cross-linked in various ways.

I heard that SEs/Google don't treat links from sites on the same ip/ip block that well. Is that true?

Does it make sense to get hosting on a different ip block and host some of the sites there?

    Any information is greatly appreciated.

It's true if you are doing a lot of cross-linking. Otherwise it doesn't matter. And it isn't worth getting different servers for all of your sites just so you can cross-link them. It won't be worth the cost or effort.

I'm sure you can get new IP addresses for so cheap, and put each one on a single IP, my hosting company charges $1 a month for each IP address.

Thanks! It definitely seems like a better option.

Keep in mind that the IP's you are buying from your hosting provider may all be on the same c-block, so you may not get the impact that you are looking for.

Sorry (I'll pop the lid back on the tin of pagerank worms in a mo'), but surely that article is all to do with the IP address virtual or dedicated and how it affects page rank not the way the serps themselves are calculated.

Just my thoughts on this but if I was doing a lot of cross linking between sites I'd be hosting my sites on different C-Blocks, bearing in mind that if your site is geo-targeted you need to be sure you're getting a location specific IP address for your country, or using the correct domain .co.uk etc.
