Very very nice
What is it like to work on? I have a fully loaded Inspiron 9300 (everything to the max, RAM etc) which is ace for web design/dev. What is this one like? Looked at it when I was sorting a new laptop for work, but went for a fully spec'd Latitude D820. Love Dells

It works pretty well for design, it's actually my main computer now. I just got my office redone a while ago and since I got my laptop I have yet been in my office which has a 30+inch screen lol
Check out my kickass office:

I hate dells. Had a dell laptop before the one I currently have and it didn't last that long. I have an IBM Thinkpad now that works pretty well over-all.
Congratulations anyway, though. New laptops are fun.

Congrats on your new computer, but to spark some discussion and banter in here (or are we SitePointers too civilized for that?) I'll just say: You should have gone for a MacBook (Pro)!
Other than that, love the way your office looks.

I agree about the mac.
hey, here's a thought: since I agree with the lot of you, how about buying me a nice MacBook pro? I know you're all looking for opportunities to buy me expensive things, and this is a perfect opportunity.

Hmm... looks nice. I spent ages yesterday comparing the specs and prices of some macbook and dells with different configs. All pretty similar tbh. Spending around £1000. I think I'm leaning towards the mac though at the moment...

I'm not sure about the prices in the UK, but for £1000 at least here in Norway, you'd get the cream of the crop of the MacBooks. I'd suggest ordering it with the default amount of RAM, then ordering 2GB from another (cheaper) store, and change it yourself. You'll get a much better deal doing it like that (Apple are insanely pricey when it comes to RAM).

The UK has infamously high prices on virtually every single good and service you could ever imagine. The default MacBook Pro config (the best one) including NUS DISCOUNT is almost £1500. Without the discount it's probably £1700+. Then if you upgraded the RAM etc. probably near on £2000.
For £1000 I can get a Black MacBook with all the default options, and a RAM upgrade to 2GB, with about £40 to spare...

On my iBook I can lift up the whole panel and just blow the stuff out with my mouth. If things fell in deeper, wrap a little double back tape around a finger and pick those things up gently. Or, if the space is tiny wrap the tape around a toothpick and take out the things, that'll work -- Datura

Eh it's actually not too bad right now. What's an upgrade from 1GB to 2GB in a Macbook, like US$175?
Figure that a 2x1GB RAM kit is about $200 right now if you get a good deal. If you're lucky enough to sell your two 512MB sticks somewhere you might come out ahead, but who wants to buy those sticks when they're the default in every new laptop built today? And Apple's kind of a pain when it comes to sending your machine in for repair, so keeping the stock RAM around is a good idea in case you ever need repairs.
Now, if you're going for the cheapest Macbook, that one only comes with 512MB, you have a point. But for any others it's fine to buy the upgrade from apple right now*
*notice I said RIGHT NOW. Memory prices fluctuate so this may not be true in a few days/weeks/months.

Looks quite cool on the outside and as already said like a mac on the inside (keyboard).
I wonder if the XPS cool look has anything to do with Dell buying out Alienware as it has that sleek alien feel to it.
Dont like the sounds of it running hot though, i was thinking of getting one but it will live on my lap and I wanna keep that area cool!!• Search & Rescue Aberystwyth Lifeboat

Gee, my Dell Inspiron 600m is way old even though I bought it in June 2005. Other than the fried battery problem -- thanks, Sony -- it has been a trusty and reliable companion. I have used it so much that many of the letters on the keyboard have worn away! Enjoy the XPS.

the hardware in dells laptop is always pretty decent for the price- BUT my god, when will Dell hire a real designer so they can get rid of those tacky *** cases (desktop and notebook).
