What was the first forum you joined? For me it was a Big brothers Aus rumours and secrets forum.

The first forum I joined? Hmm.. I do believe that was a Zelda forum of sorts, not sure which one though. My guess would be old Hyrule.com.ar forums! It was a joyful day, I think I setup my first forum around the same day I joined my first forum

I remember subscribing to a bunch of newsgroups when first discovering the internet. My first actual forum (as in web forum) was probably one of the forums related to Ultima Online. Then it all just took off from there.

Some weird forum type thing at sega.com in '95/ '96.
It wasn't even called a forum then, I don't think forums existed at all!
I suppose it was a cross between a chat room and a forum as far as functionality was concerned.

Surfing was awful at that time. At uni we had solaris/ sparc machines, and every ten minutes I had to walk to another machines to type some arcane command for killing remote sessions. Bah! Plus I can't even remember what version of Netscrape ran on those machines.

Then I left the internet for what it was, anything that painful to use couldn't ever catch on, could it?

Couple of years later, when internet did catch on, I joined the forum at Shining Force Central and was a regular poster for a year or two. That's probably the first 'proper' forum I ever used/ visited/ joined.

I think it was probably a skateboarding forum in 1995 or 1996. I doubt it still exists.

The oldest forum membership I can find of mine is for the Genesis3D.com forums from December 1998. SitePoint, however, is my most active forum account.
