    Just wondering.

I was looking through the contest area and i noticed that you can just view the entries freely without anything. So the question is, what is stopping the owner of just taking what he likes and just leaving without paying?

Yes they have run, but what I meant to say is that it is so easy to just take and not compensate, the personal morals of the CH or any other person is very important and one never knows beforehand. The net is right now like the wild west used to be: very few controls and a lot of lawless people. When technology gets to the point where protection is possible, things will be different, more like in the physical world I suppose. People without morals will always be around, but it will become more difficult in time for them -- Datura

Yes you can, but it can be copied very easily in a new document by a clever person. A person can also steal the concept and so on. Protection is really not that easy to come by. And then say: you are just a little guy. You can go after these people if you find the copy of one of your items and make them take it down, but they on the other hand can change the original thing slightly and are back in business again.

I had people steal my things, customers made me aware of it and even good people who noticed a resemblance told me out of the blue. I produce hand painted silk scarves, I paint them after designing them. In one case a person took the photos of those items off my website and sold their bad copies of my silks with my pictures. We were able to make them take down the photos, but they just took their own of the badly copied work and kept on going.

This outfit was in another country, therfor I can not go after them. So, I just got used to it and create new things -- Datura

It was always like that, you just have worldwide exposure now, which is making it easy for a thief, but on the hand it also increases your market. It is two sided -- Datura

Yea, me too. But for me the sad part is that life is so short, I am already up there, will not get to see all these new things. That is how life is, evolving and leaving behind and new all at the same time. I think we left the original meaning of the thread here though, Procode? -- Datura

Chatting sometimes leads to the most surprising and even profound things. There is something about the regimented thread protocol that is somewhat stifling -- Datura
