    New Adsense Format?

Ok, I don't know if it was talked already about this, but check this ad out:

    http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/9029/picture1bd9.png

as you can see there is no, ads by goooooooogle but just an "x", which if I click it just removes the ad.

It is a policy violation and can be reported to Google as such.

I'm not sure it's a policy violation because Google's always testing stuff... but, if you want to report it, I'm sure they'll sort it out.

Are you sure that's even an adsense ad?

The URL shown in the screenshot was the usual one for AdSense. I also saw a couple strange AdSense ads this week on small sites (definitely couldn't have custom arrangements) with no "Ads by Google" line on some, but not all their ad blocks.

Why would Google use image shack to test its stuff?

Imageshack just happens to be the free image hosting service the poster used to share a screenshot of AdSense on some other website...

Google often tests things across the entire network unannounced. Like the "Ads by [G]" icon going around this month. It wouldn't be unusual to see something new on any random site with AdSense.

That's the domain for every AdSense ad URL.

Dan's right. I'm not saying it's not a violation, just that I rarely ever presume. The screenshot is too sketchy to me. I don't know what I'm looking at, I don't know what's under the big bright red boxes. It might be best to either contact the site directly and ask or just provide a link to them. Or contact Google. I'm not getting much from the screenshot, myself.

Right. I saw one of those icons on one of my sites; I thought it was just my imagination.

I'm back sorry guys. Yes, imageshack was used to host the screenshot...gee. Anyway, i took the screenshot while I was pointing to the X so you guys could see the url.

Oh and that is from my site...why would I ask google to review it while I'm not doing anything? lol...

without seeing the code then there's not much to say. Why not post your URL or contact Google directly - would make a lil more sense.

No one really had any way of knowing that as your initial post didn't say it. But, thanks for the clarification. Cool.

I've seen AdSense image ads that aren't labeled. I just assumed Google was testing them out to see if they do better than the ones that are.

There's been quite a few of these new formats going through the system recent, and I think it's a pretty good idea. Anything that keeps the ad units looking new and fresh should make ad-blind visitors give them a second glance.
