Hello Everyone, I have a friend that wants to learn to make webpages. I am VERY bad at teaching things, so I figured I would just get him a really good webpage designing book. I need a good how-to book that has steps for a begginner to an advanced designer. I would like for him to join my "new" designing company, so that is why I want a really good book for him. Anyone know where and what book I should get? Thanks!!!

Does he need to learn how to design or make web pages? The two are very different.
For design, I suggest "Web Navigation," and Jakob Nielsen's book, "Usability: The Practice of Simplicity."
For the actual making, FTPing, maintaining, etc., of Web pages, I suggest "Web Pages that Suck," "HTML for Dummies," and any other For Dummies book that is relevant.
In my opinion, books that combine technical aspects with asthetics lack in both areas. I would suggest that he purchase two books. Two that come to mind are "Webmaster in a Nutshell" and "WebDesign in a Nutshell". Both will get you started and able to make an educated decision on your next book purchase. Both are published by O'Reilly Press.
