    DHTML Menu Problem IE7

I'm not sure exactly what I need to tell you guys in order to get the most help, but here goes. I use a dhtml menu that was purchased from opencube.com a few years ago. The menu operates fine, but it no longer displays properly in IE7. The DHTML gets fat and somewhat misaligned, but I can't adjust it too much due to the fact that so many people are still dependent on IE6 (the menu gets way too small in IE6 if I adjust it for IE7).

The interesting thing is that when I remove the code:

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"

it looks perfect in both IE7 and IE6! My concern is that while some pages operate fine with this code missing, others misalign and do not display according to the style sheet.

Also, the dhtml menu is based out of a scripts folder and is not CSS based.

Any suggestions or questions that lead to suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Call up opencube.com and cuss and complain.

To be honest, if you bought it years ago, they couldn't predict how IE 7 would render it, but cussing and complaining might convince them to give you a free update to the code to make things right.

I've checked with opencube and my menu has been discontinued and is no longer updated. I was hoping I could post the issues I've seen and see if someone knew a possible solution.

Please keep suggestions rolling in. Thanks.

I'd switch to an HTML/CSS based menu myself. Mainly for accessibility reasons, but it will also be a lot easier to manage.

Well in that case (unless you're willing to make it yourself) maybe it's time you start googling for a new one.

Easier than trying to fix that broken old one.

    Edit:

Come to think of it... the amount of effort it would take to fix the old one, you probably actually could make a whole new custom built menu.
