Ad rates - can't tell the value

I'm out looking for private advertisers and could not figure out the worth of some of the ad spots. For example, I one ad spot is going to cost me $160 a month for a 125x125 toward the top right bellow the fold. Site gets about 1200 uniques a month with a PR of 6.

At first it seems that $160 was a bit much for such low traffic. But since it is targetted, maybe it would be worth it. But, I'm also using a less converting ad unit verses a text link. I'm looking to gain traffic not SEO.

I think what will end up happening is I will test it for 1 month just to see and then go from there. What are your opinions.

IMHO that's way too much for a site with limited traffic and a spot below the fold if you're not trying to buy PR.

SEO is a good thing. But, I've paid less for PR6 websites with more traffic. try text-link-ads.com or adbrite.com

SEO is good, but I'm directing traffic to a simple landing page to generate leads and have visitors fill out a form.

Now thier text link price is much better, $35 a month. But I wouldn't get as many hits due to location.

I also checked out the two networks you mentioned above, my niche only found a couple of sites that were related. I will have to search for a more broad based visitor segment.

    Thanks for the help.
