    Fixed positioning in IE 7 compared to in IE 6.

    Hi,

    I am wondering if there are any resources around for getting pages using fixed positioning to work in IE 7? Does it need the same sort of workarounds as IE 6, or does it need different workarounds?

    Hi,

    IE7 should understand fixed positioning in the same way that mozilla/firefox does (barring bugs). There are no workarounds needed.

    IE6 doesn't understand fixed positioning at all which is why you have to resort to hacks if you must have it and even then they are a little unstable.

    See my post of earlier today.

    Thanks. I guess what I need to make sure is that my workarounds that I have in place for IE 6 won't be readable by IE 7. I am currently using this to pull in the IE-only stylesheet:

    Code:
    <!--[if IE]>
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../BoD-IE.css" media="screen">
    <![endif]-->
    If I change that to '<!--[if lte IE 6 ]>' as you use in the other thread, will that be all the changing needed?

    Yes ie7 needs the same code as firefox etc so you need to exclude only ie6 and less with the conditional comments
