    Javascript Anthology Book DHTML menu IE7 problem

    Anyone trying out the javascript drop down menus from the Sitepoint Javascript Anthology book might have noticed that in IE7 the sub menus are misaligned, they are offset to far to the right.

    Has anyone else come across this problem and does anyone know how to fix it? It has unfortunately broken several of my menus, though if you just try the demo menus from the book in IE7 they also suffer the same problem.

    This could be a CSS issue so i will post this on that forum too.

    Help much appreciated.

    I think you need to add the following CSS somewhere in your menu CSS:

    Code:
    #nav li:hover, #navli.hover {
        position: static;
    }

    some progress

    That shows some promise. Taking the exact code for the book, i added:

    #navigation li:hover{
    position:static;
    }

    to the file horizontal.css

    And now the first level of drop down menu appears correctly aligned with its parent. However, as soon as you rollout the drop down reverts to its misaligned position for the remainder of the timeout, before it disappears.

    Another problem is that the drop menu that appears also has gaps between the menu items and you can see the background iframe through the gaps.

    see my thread 'Sitepoint drop-down menu and IE7' a bit further down the page.
    The solution is not very elegant, so if there's a better one...
    It's being used on www.testyourself.tk
