AJAX plus FastCGI

Hi,

has anybody ever used AJAX and FastCGI at the same time? My Rails app becomes terribly slow and even unresponsive after using the AJAX search function on the left. It then throws this error:

A SystemExit occurred in
	store#cars
	exit /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rails-1.1.6/lib/fcgi_handler.rb:126:in `exit'

What does this mean? I'm desperate for some help!!

How many fcgi processes are you spawning? Could you use mongrel instead? Its a much better platform than FCGI for Rails.

Strange... Most people tell me FastCGI is more advanced than Mongrel. I have no idea how many FCGI processes I am spawning. Where can I check that?
