Definitely shark, although someone good at card games is known as a 'card sharp', which may be where the confusion lies. And I should know, as I am a pool shark.

Card sharp? When did this happen? My great grandma has always been a card shark.

'Loan shark' or 'Card sharp' as far as I know. I don't know what it is for pool but I think ironically 'Pool shark' sounds right.
